Basic Laboratory Glovebox Operations: How to Transfer Items with Transition Chambers

In the laboratory use glove box, the need for some experimental supplies or experimental materials, through the transition chamber to the glove box: larger items through the large transition chamber (standard size ¢ 360 × 600mm):

Smaller through the small transition chamber (standard size ¢ 150 × 300mm):

So how to pass the items into the glove box correctly?

Step1: pass items into the box

Important tips:

1. Passing items into the box, the transition chamber must be three pumping three complementary, otherwise it will destroy the atmosphere in the glove box (vacuum to -1bar for a time, make up gas to 0bar for a time);
2. When passing the items for cotton, paper-based items, please ensure that the items are dry, if necessary, please use the oven to dry and then put in;
3. When transferring plastic bags and small items, make sure they are handled properly to avoid blocking the air extraction port of the transition chamber;
4. When passing items for bottles, cans, need to open the pass, to avoid inside and outside the bottles, cans, pressure and cabin pressure difference is too large and rupture;
5. When passing items for bottles, cans, and can not open the container, in the vacuum, please do not pump to -1bar, it is recommended to pump to -0.5bar or so, the corresponding cleaning times should be increased to 4-5 times;

Important tips:

1, remember not to open the inner and outer hatches at the same time;

2, the vacuum state of the transition chamber is very difficult to open, open the door please note;

3, trying to open the vacuum state of the transition chamber will damage the mechanical locking structure of the hatch, the transition compartment filled with outside air, remember not to open the inner hatch, if opened will destroy the atmosphere inside the box, and at the same time may damage the analytical instruments and materials inside the box;

4, should regularly check the mechanical parts and seals to avoid contamination;

5、When using inert gas, please follow the relevant national regulations;

Step3: Uncertainty about the atmosphere in the transition chamber

Important Tips:

1, in the case of uncertainty about the gas atmosphere in the transition chamber, before opening the inner door of the transition chamber, you must carry out three pumping and three replenishment of the transition chamber, otherwise it will destroy the atmosphere in the glove compartment (vacuuming to -1bar for once, replenishment to 0bar for once);

2、When passing plastic bags and small items, make sure they are handled properly to avoid blocking the pumping port of the transition chamber;
