An anaerobic glove box is an airtight box with a transparent panel (usually Plexiglas) in front, which is fitted with gloves. It is one of the commonly used instruments for cultivating anaerobic bacteria.
Its working principle is to use palladium catalyst to catalyse the generation of water from oxygen and hydrogen in the anaerobic gas mixture (e.g. N₂+CO₂+H₂) inside the closed box, thus achieving anaerobic state inside the box.
Some important considerations when selecting an anaerobic glove box include:
Box material and size: common materials are stainless steel and plexiglass, etc. The size should be determined according to the actual use requirements.
Transition chambers: including the size of the large and small transition chambers.
Gas purification and recycling system: e.g. purification materials, recycling capacity, regeneration operation, vacuum pump specifications, gas piping control valves, etc.
Control system: should have self-diagnosis, power failure self-starting characteristics, as well as pressure control and self-adaptation.
Display system: the touch screen can display the operation status, tank pressure, system records and other information.
Relevant analysers: such as water analyser and oxygen analyser measurement range and probe material.
Some manufacturers can provide customised service to make anaerobic glove box according to the actual requirements of customers’ experiments to meet the operational needs. For example, the soil sampling static box acrylic anaerobic operation box (product code: SY20220107-9) produced by the Goodyear Shuangyu Instrument and Equipment Co., Ltd. is made of acrylic (commonly known as Plexiglas), with cylindrical, trapezoidal, stepped, rectangular, square and other styles to choose from, the reference size is also varied, the specific can consult the manufacturer’s customer service staff.
